Obituary of Christopher Edward Kuna
Christopher Edward Kuna, age 69, beloved husband of Maria Stykowska Kuna of Derby, died peacefully in his sleep on July 19, 2022. Born in Krakow, Poland on October 13, 1952, he was the son of the late Bronislaw and Antonina Paterak Kuna. Mr. Kuna immigrated to the United States in 1965 and has since been a valley resident. He was a 1972 graduate of Emmett O’Brien Vocational Technical High School and a lifelong communicant of St. Michael’s Church, Derby. He retired from the Derby Public School System in 2018 where he was employed as a maintenance technician. Mr. Kuna was proficient in many trades; he worked as an automotive mechanic and HVAC technician for many years. His mechanical ability was most apparent as a skilled handyman and fixer of all things. He enjoyed the outdoors and off the grid lifestyle at his cabin in Vermont. Mr. Kuna was an animal lover and enjoyed classic cars, cooking, baking, watching old western movies and country music; but above all things, he enjoyed making handmade toys and spending time with his grandsons. In addition to his wife of 45 years, he is survived by his devoted son, Thomas C. Kuna and his wife Patricia of Weston and daughter, Larysa Kuna of Derby; brothers, Wallace Kuna and his wife Janina of Shelton, Richard Kuna of Nevada and Adam Kuna and his wife Aneta of Oxford; cherished grandsons, Alexander Thomas Kuna and Julian Mark Kuna, both Weston; as well as several nieces, nephews and dear friends. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, July 23, 2022 from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. Michael’s Church, 75 Derby Avenue, Derby. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Derby.
