Chris, my friend, my best buddy buddy since high school. This was a man that could do anything and would drop everything to help you out when you needed it. One of the hardest working guys you could know. He could do everything, and he did. In high school he started working for Joe DiMichael’s shop as a mechanic. Joe quickly saw Chris’s potential and gave him every opportunity to excel. And he did. And he worked hard. At Joe’s, Chris serviced every kind of car and all the UI trucks in the local fleet. He could do it all: mechanical, hydraulics, electrical, automatic transmissions, you name it. He did it all first, before all of us in tech school with him. When we learned something new, Chris had already done it. He could do a V8 valve job, actually grinding and seating all the valves himself, complete, all on his overnight shift - and he’d be in school at 8am every school day. Chris was a good student but he understood materials science and physics intuitively, more than could be taught in school. That’s why he could do some things that would baffle others. Ask his high school math teacher how he soldered his leaking gas tank with no worry of blowing up. Chris just knew what could and couldn’t be done and how to stay out of trouble. He had a knack for fine details, which let him to work with military turbine engine manufacturing at Avco Lycoming. Chris also oversaw and maintained a large and profitable manufacturing line of mold machines. Chris just knew how everything worked. He was a certified HVAC tech as well - but his most important accomplishment in life was finding Maria and creating their wonderful family, a wonderful home - and in this he is undeniably certified. Chris and Maria’s wedding was a beautiful event I’ll always remember, even considering the grain alcohol involved the day before. Chris is a true friend and a shining star that will be missed deeply.
