Obituary of Eugene Warycha

Eugene Warycha, age 78, husband of Karen G. Thompson Warycha of Milford, transitioned peacefully from this life on July 26, 2021 in the comfort of his daughter’s home, surrounded by his family.  Born in Derby on March 19, 1943, he was the son of the late Theodore, Sr. and Helen Lahaza Warycha.  Mr. Warycha was a graduate of Derby High School and obtained a certificate in specialized welding.  Following his service in the U.S. Army National Guard, he worked for the former B.F. Goodrich Co. for many years and was then employed as a supervisor for the Lord Manufacturing Co., until the time of his retirement.  Mr. Warycha was skilled in all trades and completed many home improvement projects and substantial renovations.  He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hiking and skiing.  In addition to his wife of 56 years, he is survived by his children; Susan Carothers and Jonathan Gene (Daphne) Warycha; a sister, Elizabeth Warycha of Derby; seven beloved grandchildren, and a nephew. He was predeceased by a brother, Theodore Warycha, Jr.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.  Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, prior to the service.  Memorial contributions in memory of Eugene may be made to: VITAS Healthcare, 199 Park Road Extension, Suite 102, Middlebury, CT, 06762, online donation www.vitas.com.  Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.
