Obituary of Marilyn Michel

Marilyn Michel, age 86 of Seymour, beloved wife of the late Leo H. Michel, died peacefully at home on October 22, 2018, surrounded by her family.  Born in Ansonia on October 9, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Maxim and Mary Kopcha Kowtko.  Marilyn was a lifelong valley resident and worked as a sewing room supervisor for the Slim Fit Dress Co. for over 30 years and then was employed at Sikorsky for 15 years, until the time of her retirement in 1994.  She was a lifelong dedicated member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Ansonia, where she was active in many committees and functions - especially organizing and managing the weekly Bingo.  She was a member of the Shelton Senior Center, the League of Ukrainian Catholics, and a steadfast volunteer of the annual Ukrainian Day Festival in Stamford.  She enjoyed travel, trips to the casinos, was an avid reader and a skilled crossword puzzler.  She is survived by her devoted daughters, Karen A. (Alan Wilson) Michel and Linda M. Michel, all of Seymour; as well as many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband of 48 years, she was predeceased by sisters, Olga Pozucek, Julia Machowski and Ann Evon; and a brother, Max Kowtko. Funeral Services will take place on Friday, October 26, 2018, at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia.  Interment will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, October 25, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Panikhida at 6:30 PM.  Marilyn’s personal request was to omit flowers and make charitable contributions to Sts. Peter and Paul Church.  Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.
