Obituary of Vivian Merancy
Vivian Merancy, age 88, of Woodbridge, beloved wife of the late John E. Merancy, died peacefully on September 8, 2018 at the St. Raphael Campus of Yale-New Haven Health. Mrs. Merancy was born in New Haven on March 13, 1930, daughter of the late Wasil and Julia Honchar Bodak. She was a lifelong resident of Woodbridge. Mrs. Merancy was a graduate of the New Haven State Teacher’s College, (now known as SCSU) and worked as a Kindergarten Teacher for the North Haven School System for over 30 years, until her retirement in 1995. She was a lifelong member of Three Saints Orthodox Church of Ansonia and enjoyed cooking, baking and maintaining her home and its landscape. She will be long remembered for her feisty independence and vivacious sense of humor. Mrs. Merancy is survived by her devoted nephews, John (Robin) Bodak of Woodbridge, Robert Bodak of PA; niece, Christine Mazzotta of Kensington; sister-in-law, Dorothy (James) Scrobko of Glastonbury; as well as great nieces and nephews, Julia, Emily, Cole and Tyler. In addition to her husband of 44 years, she was predeceased by brothers, Michael and John Bodak. Funeral Services will take place on Friday, September 14, 2018 at 10:30 AM, Meeting Directly at Three Saints Orthodox Church, 26 Howard Avenue, Ansonia. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Family and friends may call on Thursday, September 13, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia; Panakhida at 5:30 PM.
