Obituary of Alice M. Struwas
Alice M. Struwas, age 90 of Derby, beloved wife of Donald J. Struwas, died peacefully on June 18, 2017 at The Willows in Woodbridge. Born in Derby on January 2, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Stapor) Cwanek. Mrs. Struwas was a lifelong Derby resident and graduate of Derby High School. A communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church, she was a member of the St. Michael’s Ladies Guild. Mrs. Struwas worked at the U.S. Rubber Co. for many years, until the time of her retirement. She enjoyed trips to the casinos and watching UConn women’s basketball, but most of all adored her grandchildren and the time she spent with them. In addition to her husband of 62 years, she is survived by her devoted children, Michael (Judith) Struwas of Seymour and Nancy (Kiaran) McGee of MN; grandchildren, Jeff (Audrea) McGee and Max McGee both of MN, and Cora McGee of KS; great-granddaughter, Margaret Clare McGee; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Gladys Cwanek, Minnie Synos, Kay Golembiewski, Stella Supp and Lottie Pristosh; and brother, John Cwanek. Funeral services will take place on Friday, June 23, 2017, at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 75 Derby Ave., Derby. Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Derby.
