Obituary of Audrey Louise Gela

Audrey Louise Gela, age 82 of Derby, died peacefully surrounded by her family on August 25, 2016, at the Birmingham Healthcare Center, Derby. Born in New York and raised in Woodbridge, she was a graduate of Hillhouse High School. Mrs. Gela was a resident of Derby and worked in the Woodbridge location of Amity Bank for many years, until the time of her retirement. Prior to Amity Bank, she was employed with the Owens-Illinois, Bic Pen and CT Bank and Trust companies. Mrs. Gela enjoyed cooking for family holiday gatherings, but her greatest joy in life were her grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Michael D. (Jennifer) Gela and daughter, Michele M. (Charles) Pysz-Wright, all of Ansonia; cherished grandchildren, Emily and Elizabeth Gela, Daniel Pysz and Julia Wright, all of Ansonia. She was predeceased by her son, Theodore Gela, Jr. and her former spouse, Theodore Gela, Sr. A Memorial Service in celebration of her life will take place on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 6:30 PM in the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.
