Dear Jim,
While I do not know you, I DID and DO know your Dad who was a wonderful presence when I was a little girl growing up in Watertown. He played golf with my father 'Gee' Welch often. I was so sorry to read that he had died but I know that he had a wonderful life and that you have many wonderful stories and memories that will keep him with you always. I recently came across some photographs of all of us at the old Fort Lauderdale airport waiting to depart for Connecticut. In all likelihood your father and my father had played golf that very morning before the flight...knowing them and their love of the game!
Please accept my sincerest condolences but I know that he is now in a place where the sun always shines and the two of them can play golf for all eternity, even with that ever-present cigar!
With kind regards
Susan Welch Leerstang

Mr Obrien led a greater life than I knew. Having met him in my youth and on a few more occasions over the years I must say he was a fun man always quick with a smile and a laugh.
Our hearts are with you during this time of grief and most importantly remembrance of a great man.

Condolences to the "O'Brien family". Jim was a great guy and an awesome boss! It was an honor to work for such a great man! Roy and I both feel privileged for the years that we worked for him. He was loved by all and was a well respected man. Patty, Karen and Jimmy may you find peace and comfort in the fact that your dad had a long life and may you never forget all the wonderful memories. God Bless!
Love,
Roy and Sharron Munro

May you rest in peace, Mr. O. Your light will long linger in the hearts of those whose lives you touched in such a positive and spirited way. Thank you for the many laughs, family dinners, birthdays, holidays, graduations, and all the wonderful memories over the years. The love I, and the boys, always felt in your home will not be forgotten.
Thank you for always welcoming us, and for your strength, support and sense of humor through the hard times in our lives. You made a big difference. Going to the O'Briens helped us stay grounded and made us feel like we had a home, especially as ours was drastically changing.
I miss waving to you in your chair, "60 Minutes" Sundays, the smell of your cigar, solitaire at the kitchen table, your ever-present sense of humor, and especially your smile : )
We will have a martini and cigar on the patio for you! (and throw the olives in the pool)
Forever peace and love,
Squeaky, Roman, Mick & Tim
