Obituary of Maria N. Servilla

Maria Natividad Sereno Servilla, age 88 of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late John M. Servilla died peacefully on February 9, 2016 at Masonicare of Newtown. Born in Newark, NJ on March 3, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Blas and Magdalena Fernandez Sereno. Mrs. Servilla was a longtime resident of Fairfield. She devoted many years to the care of small children; was a quality control inspector for Pepperidge Farm and also previously employed with Perkin Elmer. Together with her husband she was a member of the Fayerweather Yacht Club and the Slovak Society of Stratford. Mrs. Servilla was a beautiful, strong, high-spirited woman with a zest for life. Her passion and love were for her family and grandchildren and she had an inspirational knowledge of nutrition. She is survived by her devoted children: John Servilla of Southport; James Servilla and his wife, Julie of Fairfield; Jerry Servilla and his wife, Robin of FL; Laurie Grella and her husband, Ed of Fairfield; Susan Hynes and her husband, Robert of CA; Patricia Kummer and her husband, Peter of NY; as well as 8 cherished grandchildren: Jonathan & Christopher Servilla, Robert & Casey Hynes, Eddie and Rachel Grella and Kristjan & Niklas Kummer; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Jeffrey Servilla and a sister, Ann “Angie” Balta and a brother, Joseph Sereno. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 11:00 AM in Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 160 Hill Farm Road, Fairfield.
