Obituary of Joseph Frank Willets

Joseph F. Willets, age 44, formerly of Ansonia, died suddenly in his home in North Carolina on November 5, 2015. Born in Arizona on March 24, 1971, he was the beloved son of Frank and Nancy (Apanavich) Willets of Ansonia. Joe was a graduate of Ansonia High School and was the former owner of A-1 Modern Concrete in Ansonia. He was currently working for R&N Construction Group as a foreman. He will be remembered for his love of animals, especially his Nala, enjoyment in playing softball and football as well as being a lifelong fan. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, John M. Willets and his wife Shannon, nieces he adored, Morgan, Carmella and Aislin Willets all of Shelton. He will also be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins and his longtime companion Leslie Matejak of Derby. Joseph was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Anna Apanavich and paternal grandparents Carmella and Frederick Willets. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, prior to the service. Interment will be private.
