Don as a varsity football player in the 1961-1962 school year of Shelton High School. He was a key player in our Housatonic League Championship win that year and his name made headlines in The Evening Sentinel, the local newspaper at the time. We were at every game together, he playing the game and me cheering him on as part of the majorette squad. We developed a close relationship over the years although we did not see each other as often in our later years. The last time I saw him was in 2012 about 8 months after Joe had died. He and Judy came to visit and he had recently come out of the hospital. We had a nice visit and I'm so glad that they came to see me.
