Obituary of Josephine Ann Binkowski
Josephine Ann "Joey" Binkowski, beloved wife of the late Peter Binkowski, died peacefully at the age of 95 on November 17, 2022, at her daughter’s home in DuBois, PA, where she had resided for the last several years. Born in Mount Carmel, PA, she was the daughter of the late Teofil and Aniela (Gabauer) Prostko. Joey was a resident of Derby, CT, for over 60 years and was a devout member of St. Peter and St. Paul Church. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant for the P. Francini Construction Company for many years until her retirement.
Joey was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed champagne with her husband, cooking for her family and the challenge of a good crossword puzzle. Joey would spend endless hours looking for new recipes; her famous whiskey cake and vegetable soup will continue to be enjoyed for generations to come. After retirement, she helped care for her grandchildren and had a soft spot for all the family cats and dogs. She loved to laugh, prayed the rosary daily, and cherished having her family over for Sunday dinner most of all. She will be missed and forever in our hearts.
She is survived by her devoted children: Peter Binkowski and his wife Mary, of Broomfield, CO; Alan Binkowski and his wife, Janet of Pawcatuck, CT; Nancy Beaulieu and her husband, Ryan of Bethany, CT; and Carol Rehermann and her husband, Richard of DuBois, PA, who both selflessly and tirelessly cared for Josephine with great love and respect for many years. She had thirteen cherished grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dear sister-in-law and lifelong neighbor, Maura Binkowski. She was the last surviving member of the Prostko family. Mrs. Binkowski was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Prostko; and sisters, Catherine Rogevich, Helen Pilarsky, Genevieve Jason, Jane Mary Prostko and Rita Strecker.
