Obituary of Kathleen Anne Jurzynski

Kathleen Anne Jurzynski, age 67, beloved wife of Timothy Jurzynski of Seymour, died peacefully on November 8, 2022, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family.  Born in Derby, on March 8, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Mary Samodel Franzis.  Mrs. Jurzynski was a lifelong resident of Seymour and Communicant of St. Augustine Church.  She graduated from Seymour High School in 1973 and then earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Teikyo-Post University.  Mrs. Jurzynski worked as the manager of H & R Block Tax Services, Seymour, for 10 years, until the time of her illness.  She was also employed as a secretary at the St. Augustine Church Rectory and for the Town of Seymour, Board of Finance. Mrs. Jurzynski enjoyed playing the piano, delighting in anything chocolate and found great solace in lighthouses and the beach. A devoted wife and mother, she was a girl scout leader for many years, a fabulous cook and baker, and made every holiday an unforgettable family event.  Her collection of cookbooks can rival those of any public library!  Despite her 27-year struggle with Parkinson’s Disease, she unselfishly cared for the needs of others.  She will be long remembered for her optimistic mindset, her brave and relentless resolve, and her ability to smile to the very end.  In addition to her husband of 41 years, she is survived her devoted children, Thomas E. Jurzynski of Seymour and Kristen M. Stickles and her husband, Jeffrey of Glastonbury; brothers, John Franzis and his wife, Susan of Glastonbury, and Patrick Franzis and his wife Cynthia of Naugatuck; cherished granddaughters, Harper and Kiley Stickles of Glastonbury; aunt, Ann Samodel of Seymour; uncle, Nicholas Samodel of Shelton;  her granddog, Larry; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will take place on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 9:30 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM at the St. Augustine Campus of St. Nicholas Parish, 35 Washington Avenue, Seymour.  Interment will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, November 13, 2022, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131, www.parkinson.org.  Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.
