Obituary of Richard C. Daum
Richard C. Daum, age 64, beloved husband of Norma Randall Daum of Ansonia, died suddenly at his home on October 10, 2022. Born in Derby on September 27, 1958, he was the son of Joan Marie Lakatta Daum of Seymour and the late Glen Daum. Rick was raised in Seymour and was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran. He worked as a Machinist Mold Maker for area manufacturing companies, until his retirement in 2012. Rick was a classic car enthusiast, a skilled mechanic, and enjoyed working on cars. He volunteered as a softball coach for almost two decades with the George J. Hummel Little League of Seymour and was a passionate, lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Rams. In his younger years, Rick played bass guitar in local bands and shared his love for classic rock music with his children and grandchildren. In addition to his mother Joan, and his wife of 45 years, Norma, he is survived by his devoted daughters, Christina (Adam) Busker of Hamden, Candice (James Zinko) Daum of Ansonia, Erica Daum of Hamden and April (David) Pivola of Shelton; brothers, Christopher (Frances Louise Parker) Daum of Mississippi and Timothy Daum of Seymour; cherished grandchildren, Joshua Busker of Hamden, Andrew Zinko & Makayla Popp of Ansonia, Emma & Daniel Pivola of Shelton; beloved furry companions, Rogue, Storm, and Boone; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Rick was predeceased by a sister, Janice Daum. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022, starting at 11:00 AM with a memorial service to follow at 1:00 PM in the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.
