Obituary of Thomas Andrew Colimitra
Thomas Andrew Colimitra, beloved husband of Marie Darvas Colimitra of Monroe, died peacefully on September 11, 2022, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, surrounded by his family. It was just one week prior to his 95th birthday. Born on September 18, 1927, he was the son of the late James Andrew and Fanica Babiana Colimitra. Mr. Colimitra was raised in Bridgeport, graduated from Bassick High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Fairfield University-BEI. Tom's career lead him into the robotics field where he remained until his retirement. He was a devout member of the Anglican Church of the Resurrection of Ansonia, serving as Senior Warden. Tom was an avid musician and played the banjo and mandolin in the Easton Banjo Society. He resided in Monroe for 65 years, having built own home and was an active member of the Monroe community. He served on the Design Committee of the Monroe Public Library, where his name is recognized on the dedication plaque. Tom enjoyed all sports, especially diving, having been a CT State Champion Diver in his late teens. In addition to his wife of 70 years, he is survived by his devoted daughters, Linda Andrews of New Rochelle, NY, Laura Golding and her husband, Barry of Portsmouth, RI, and Christine Colimitra of Monroe; a cherished granddaughter, Jesse Golding and her fiancé, Wayne Clark of West Haven; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Andrew James Colimitra. A Requiem Eucharist Service will be celebrated on Friday, September 16, 2022 at 10:00 AM, Meeting Directly at the Anglican Church of the Resurrection, 6 Church Street, Ansonia. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Monroe. Family and friends may call at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia on Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
