Obituary of Joseph Nigro

Joseph Nigro, age 84, son of the late John and Rose Pedone Nigro and father of Michael and John, died August 12, 2022 in Hartford Hospital. Joseph was born in Brooklyn, NY and lived in the Huntington section of Shelton for many years. He was a retired Senior Draftsman and was involved in mechanical engineering for many years to various helicopter and aeronautic design companies, notably with Northrop Grumman and ITT. 

Joe enjoyed the hunt and collecting of fine antiques throughout New England. He especially enjoyed finding antique English Flow Blue Ceramics, Empire Furniture of the 1840's and collecting Currier and Ives lithograph prints over the years. He also had a hobby of antique ceramic conservation, for many years.

In addition to his two sons, he is survived by a grandson, John; granddaughter, Samantha; sister, Vivian Capoccetti; brother, John Nigro; several nieces and nephews; as well as grand nieces and nephews.

A memorial service and celebration of life will take place on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the Ellsworth Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church of Fairfield, 2475 Easton Turnpike, Fairfield. Private interment will take place in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. A greeting of family and friends will take place in church at 1:30 PM, prior to the service. The Wakelee memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia is in care of arrangements.
