Obituary of Allan Phillips
Allan J. Phillips, 78, of Seymour, loving husband of 56 years to Irene M. Baron Phillips, passed away on April 10, 2022 at St. Mary's Hospital, Waterbury. He was born in Ontario, Canada on August 21, 1943, a son of the late Abraham and Susan Phillips. Allan was a proud member of the Akwesasne tribe of the Mohawk Nation. Besides his wife Irene, he is survived by his daughter Deidre Goodrich and her husband George of Middletown, son Scot A. Phillips of Madison, and siblings: Elizabeth Benedict, Bruce, Vaughn, Shirley, and Sandra Phillips. He was predeceased by his brothers Terry and Leslie Phillips.
Allan worked as a carpenter for Local #24 for 40 years until his retirement in 2009. He was a talented wood carver, creating art reflecting his Mohawk roots and Catholic faith. Allan was an avid swimmer for years at the YMCA in Ansonia. He enjoyed traveling with his family, and lateral with his wife to Branson, Missouri.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday April 20th at 11:00AM in Holy Rosary Church, 10 Father Salemi Dr. Ansonia. All are invited to meet directly at church. Interment will follow in Mountain Meadows Cemetery, followed by a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Allan's memory may be made to the Neurobehavioral Fund, Hospital for Special Care, 2150 Corbin Ave. New Britain, CT 06053.
