Obituary of David R. Nordin

David Roland Nordin, 80, of Shelton, CT, passed away unexpectedly on April 5, 2022. Dave was the devoted husband of Barbara (Fama) Nordin for 56 years.  Dave was born on June 25, 1941 in Worcester, MA and was predeceased by his parents, Roland and C. Elise Nordin.  After moving to Orange, CT at a young age, he attended college at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After working at various companies including Avco-Lycoming and Sikorsky, he retired in 2008 from Precision Sensors in Milford, CT as the VP of Engineering following 25 years of service. After their marriage, Dave and Barbara settled in Shelton, CT where they raised their family. Family and friends were always his number one priority, and he shared his talents, gifts and treasures quietly and freely. His wisdom and humility created lifelong friendships and a life of quiet service to others. Retirement was a second childhood for Dave. He and Barbara traveled extensively to Europe and enjoyed long car vacations to Texas (with plenty of side trips) to visit family. He was an active member and Secretary of the White Hills Eagles R.C. Club for many years, a member of the Bridgeport Rifle Club, and a relentless tinkerer in his workshop and garage. If you had a problem that needed solving, you called Dave. David is survived by his soulmate, Barbara; his son, Eric and his partner, Meredith; his daughter, Christine; and his grandchildren, Roe, Leah and Sophie – all three his pride and joy. He will be sorely missed by his very close brother-in-law, Philip Fama and his wife, Adele; his loving niece, Olivia Fama; and a host of friends from a life well lived. He is also survived by his sister, Marie Allen and her son, James; as well as several cousins.  The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Bridgeport Hospital’s 9th floor MICU team for their compassion and professionalism over the past several days. A Mass of Christian Burial, meeting directly at church, will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 9, 2022 in St. Margaret Mary Church, 50 Donovan Lane, Shelton. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Family and friends may call at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia on Friday, April 8, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Margaret Mary Church. “An honest man here lies at rest,

As e’er God with His image blest:

The friend of man, the friend of truth;

The friend of age, and guide of youth:

Few hearts like his, with virtue warm’d,

Few heads with knowledge so inform’d:

If there’s another world, he lives in bliss;

If there is none, he made the best of this.”

- Robert Burns
