Obituary of Irene B. Panuczak

Irene B. Panuczak, age 92, beloved wife of Francis “Frank, Pooch” Panuczak of Shelton, died peacefully while surrounded by her family on March 21, 2022, at the Forestview Manor, Meredith, NH.  Born in Bridgeport on August 4, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Rabik Bashar.  Mrs. Panuczak was raised in Saint John the Baptist Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church, Bridgeport and was a graduate of Stratford High School.  She worked for the former Remington Arms and Underwood Corporations.   Mrs. Panuczak was a home maker and Shelton resident for over 60 years.  Mrs. Panuczak was a member of St. Michael Church, Derby and together with her husband, “Pooch” and sister & brother-in-law, Helen & Wally Sadlon, could often be found enjoying Polish festivals, Polka dances and various church functions. She was a member of the AVCO/Textron Seniors, the Shelton Senior Center and enjoyed playing bingo and trips to the casinos.  She will be long remembered for her special love and dedication to her family. She is survived by her devoted sons, Gerald (Linda) Panuczak of NH and Kenneth (Janet) Panuczak of Seymour; cherished grandchildren, Holly (Ryan) Timms of NH, Scott Panuczak of MA, and Marisa Panuczak of Seymour; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Amanda Timms of NH; as well as a sister-in-law, Anna Bashar of SC and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by sisters, Helen Sadlon, and Anna Bashar; and brothers, John, Peter, Michael and George Bashar.  Funeral services will take place on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. Michael Church, 75 Derby Ave., Derby.  Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Stratford.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Echo Hose Ambulance Corps, 430 Coram Ave., Shelton, CT 06484, https://ambulance.echohose.org/donate/ .
