Obituary of Teodora Garan

Teodora Garan, age 90 of Derby, died Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the Hewitt Health and Rehab Center, Shelton with her family by her side.  Born in Bednarka, Poland, she was the daughter of the late Jan and Maria Szczerba Sembrat.  Mrs. Garan immigrated to the U.S. in 1986, first settling in Shelton and then moved to Derby.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren, whom she often watched & cared for. Mrs. Garan was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Ansonia.  She is survived by her devoted son, Steve (Olga) Dytko of Derby, a brother, Wasyl (Jaroslawa) Sembrat of Shelton; cherished grandchildren, Stephanie and John Dytko of Derby, as well as several nieces and nephews in Poland and the U.S.  She was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Anna (Bohdan) Kofla.  Funeral services will take place on Friday, March 18, 2022 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.  A Funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Avenue, Ansonia, at 10:00 AM.  Interment will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, March 17, 2022, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Panakhyda at 5:00 PM.  Memorial contributions may be made to Sts.
