Obituary of Jean P. Comcowich

Jean Patrice Comcowich, age 89 of Huntington, beloved wife of the late Thomas E. Comcowich, Jr., died peacefully on October 2, 2021 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family. Born in Derby on February 6, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Jennie Casanova DeMartin. Mrs. Comcowich was a graduate of Bullard Havens Vocational Technical High School and worked as a secretary and accounts receivable clerk for the Cohen, Sylvester and Micci Law Firm until her retirement in 1997. A genuine and talented artist, Mrs. Comcowich was skilled in creating beautiful stained glass artwork, charcoal drawings and lifelike watercolor and oil paintings. Her artful works adorned her home, where she applied her natural creativity in remodeling projects and décor. Mrs. Comcowich enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting and crocheting, always providing family and friends with her heirloom quality handywork. In her younger years, she was an active mother, supporting her children in boy scouts, girl scouts, 4-H club and many sporting endeavors. She is survived by her devoted children, Lauren Steen of MN, Thomas E. (Lisa) Comcowich III of Wallingford, and Lynn (Kenneth) Damato of Huntington; cherished grandchildren, Catherine Damato-Luchansky (Adam) of Bristol, Cassie Steen of MN, and Matthew & Daniel Comcowich, both of Wallingford. In addition to her husband of nearly 68 years, she was predeceased by a daughter, Jean P. Comcowich; a sister, Marie C. Sylvester and a brother, Salvatore DeMartin. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers especially Roberta Sheehy, caregiver, and friend.
