Obituary of Richard S. Kurimsky

Richard “Dick” S. Kurimsky, age 77, beloved husband of Karen Furedy Kurimsky of Oxford, died peacefully on August 1, 2021 at Yale-New Haven Hospital.  Born in Bridgeport on November 19, 1943, he was the son of the late Stephen and Olga Cybul Kurimsky.  Mr. Kurimsky was a 1961 graduate of Bullard Havens High School and a proud U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam War. Following his service in the Marine Corps, Mr. Kurimsky worked as a maintenance and repair technician for United Parcel Service for over 35 years, until the time of his retirement in 2005.  He was a member of the Teamsters Union, Local 191 of Bridgeport and stayed active with union activities and luncheons throughout the years.  Mr. Kurimsky was a lifelong fan of the Washington Redskins and attended area classic car shows and cruises with his friends.  A member of the Oxford Senior Center, he participated in social events and enjoyed the fellowship at the Oxford Congregational Church. Together with his wife, he traveled many trips to upstate NY to visit family and grandchildren.  In addition to his wife of 50 years, he is survived by his devoted sons, Alexander (Jessica) Kurimsky of NY and Matthew (Amy) Kurimsky of Oxford; brothers, Stephen Kurimsky of Bridgeport and George (Nancy) Kurimsky of Shelton; cherished grandchildren, Brendan, Michael and Emily Kurimsky of NY and Ryan and Austin Kurimsky of Oxford.  Funeral services will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 28, 2021, in the Oxford Congregational Church, 3 Academy Road, Oxford, CT.  Interment with full military honors will follow in the Oxford Congregational Church Cemetery, Governors Hill Rd., Oxford.  The Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia is in care of arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford Congregational Church or to the Gary Sinise Foundation, PO Box 368, Woodland Hills, CA, 91365, www.garysinisefoundation.org/donate/.  Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.
