Obituary of Kenneth R. Bestenbostel, Jr.

 Kenneth R. Bestenbostel, Jr., age 79, beloved husband of Joan Zavednak Bestenbostel of Seymour, died peacefully on June 3, 2021 at Griffin Hospital, surrounded by his family.  Born in Derby on March 27, 1942, he was the son of the late Kenneth R. and Marion A. Bradshaw Bestenbostel.  Mr. Bestenbostel was raised in Seymour and was a graduate of Morgan High School, Clinton, CT.  He was employed as a Commercial Driver’s License instructor for the All-State Commercial Driver Training School of Seymour, for over 25 years, until his retirement in 2007.  Mr. Bestenbostel was a lifelong outdoorsman, he was an avid fisherman and hunter, as well as an archery enthusiast.  Together with his daughter Robin, he would spend countless hours assembling intricate jigsaw puzzles while sharing quality time.

In addition to his wife of 58 years, he is survived by his devoted children, Robin (Chris) Headden of Seymour and Jeffrey Bestenbostel of East Hampton, a sister, Carrie Ann (John) Clark of Clinton; brother-in-law, Steven (Carol) Zavednak of Seymour, sister-in-law, Sharon Oszajca of New Hampshire, nephews, John (Amy) Clark of Hanover, Christopher (Casey) Clark of Old Saybrook, and Richard (Sally) Bestenbostel of KY, nieces, Lori Chandler of FL and Valerie Priole of NC; as well as several cousins and friends Al & Sam.  He was predeceased by a brother, Dennis (Elaine) Bestenbostel.  A private graveside funeral will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Griffin Hospital Development Fund, 130 Division Street, Derby, CT 06418.  The Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia is in care of arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.
