Obituary of Duane Mark Cichowicz

Duane Mark Cichowicz, age 67, beloved husband of Virginia Shimko Cichowicz, died peacefully on November 27, 2020 at Griffin Hospital.  Born in Norwalk on October 8, 1953, he was the son of the late Edwin and Gladys Wickett Cichowicz.  Mr. Cichowicz was raised in Norwalk, graduated from Brien McMahon High School, Norwalk and the Electrical Program of Eli Whitney Technical High School, Hamden; he has been an Ansonia resident for over 40 years. He was a skilled, self-employed electrician working many years in the trade. Most recently, Mr. Cichowicz worked as a truck driver for SunPet Ltd. Company of West Haven, delivering tropical pets from Connecticut to New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He was a Civil War history enthusiast and enjoyed many visits to the Gettysburg National Military Park. Together with his family, he enjoyed memorable vacations to Lake George, NY and Baltimore, MD.  He was a lover of music and also a practical joker, pulling pranks on people whenever he could. He will be long remembered for his dedication to his family.  In addition to his spouse of 40 years, he is survived by his devoted children, David Cichowicz and his wife Shannon Kopp of Danbury and Kimberly Cichowicz of Ansonia; sisters, Suzanne Cichowicz and Debra Trombetta of Norwalk; brothers, Ed Cichowicz and his wife Carol of Norwalk, Dan Cichowicz of Florida and Christopher Cichowicz of Pennsylvania; cherished grandchildren, Alexia Skye and Carly Rayne Gerry of Ansonia; sisters-in-law, Carol Beerwa and her husband John, and Janet Lazarony and her husband Bob, all of PA; and a brother-in-law, Frank Shimko and his wife Linda of Southington; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Cichowicz and brother-in-law, Tom Trombetta.
