Obituary of Barbara V. Demanchyk

Barbara V. Demanchyk, age 97, of Prospect, beloved wife of the late Peter Demanchyk, died August 11, 2020 at Wolcott View Manor with her family by her side. Born in Waterbury on June 14, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John and Julia Zubic. Mrs. Demanchyk was a graduate of Northwestern Bible College of Minnesota where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Literature. She worked as a substitute teacher and teacher’s aide for over 20 years in the Amity School System, until the time of her retirement. She was a devout member of the Bethel Baptist Church of Prospect where she enjoyed singing classic christian hymns. Mrs. Demanchyk was an avid gardener, loved to cook for her family and friends and will be long remembered for her special love and compassion for her family- especially the grand and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Joan Kelly and her husband, Timothy of Southbury; brothers, William and Daniel Zubic of Watertown; a sister, Mary Glowasky of Bristol; cherished granddaughters, April Deller and her husband, Jordan of Naugatuck, and Ashley Mariano and her husband, Brian of Prospect; precious great grandchildren, Haley and Aubrey Deller of Naugatuck and Eliana and Blake Mariano of Prospect; as well as many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Demanchyk was one of 10 siblings; she was predeceased by brothers, Michael, Benjamin, Peter, and Ray Zubic; and sisters, Ann Stannard and Helen Mascia. Walk-through visiting hours will be on Saturday, August 15, 2020, from 9:00 AM 10:30 AM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Please be advised that all protocol, screening and social restrictions of the Covid-19 Pandemic will be exercised. Funeral Services and Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia will be private.
