May 23rd, 1994 was not supposed to happen… You weren’t supposed to be here until June 11th, that’s what they said.. You arrived early because that’s what you wanted. You were ready and didn’t care what they said. Nothing you did was ordinary from the day you entered this world, a world that was so not ready for you. What baby sleeps all night from the first day? They said wake her up and feed her, that’s not normal, but you didn’t care and would just fall back asleep. I told them my milk was not enough and you were always hungry and that you wanted to nurse every hour and they said that’s not normal, only let her nurse every 4 hours, but you didn’t care you nursed when you wanted to and I let you. That was not enough, you started having the food I made for your sister, and that seemed to satisfy you. When I told them they said that’s not normal she is not ready for that yet. They didn’t understand that you were more ready than they knew, so I let you try anything and everything you said you were ready to do, even if I wasn’t. When you were tired, you would sit in front of your crib waiting to go to sleep even when I wanted to keep you up to play because I wasn’t ready.. That red hair and those green eyes wanted to do it all, they wanted to go everywhere, taste, touch and smell everything and you certainly did. You could see passed everything in people, color, religion, flaws, it didn’t matter, you only saw the light they had inside and would do anything to make them feel beautiful and happy. Music was such a huge part of your life and you loved all music and danced, and hooped to it all. I was always so afraid to let you do things because you never saw any of the dangers and it was my job to protect you. You wanted to ride horses, that was all you ever talked about, so I gave you lessons and of course you fell off.. but you got right back up and said it hurt, but that you weren’t finished and had to get back on.There were so many firsts that you had to do, those drums come to mind, but I’m not even going there with that one… Next big thing was your first music festival and you wanted to go for the 3 days with your friends.. that did not sit well with me at all, but I bought you the tickets and didn’t sleep a wink the whole time you were gone. You told me about the people you met, the things you did and the amazing time you had. That was the first of many and oh how you looked forward to these every year. Then came the dreaded drivers license and you wanted the so badly but I knew what that meant- less time with you. You drove everywhere to see every one to drive every one.. You drew and painted the most awesome pictures, right down to your bright green bedroom- You became a hairstylist and one of the most talented hair colorists I’ve seen.. You were on your way.. All you ever wanted to do was to put beauty in this world in any way you could, I don’t think you realized that just by being here you already had. You fell in love and had the love of so many people, people that you only met just one time. You were a contagious force my girl with the heart and soul of a Gypsy.. My free bird, my down for anything girl. We still had places to go and things to see and do and none of those things will ever make sense now. This world was not ready for you, it didn’t expect how you would change it. You followed the moon and the stars and now you will dance with them. You entered a world that was not ready for your presence and you left that same world, only this time it was the world who was not ready for you to go. No amount of time with you would have been enough, but I wanted more and still do.
