Obituary of Elizabeth G. Snow

Elizabeth “Betty” G. Snow, age 75, beloved wife of Donald G. Snow of Ansonia, died Thursday, June 4, 2020, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family. Born on March 27, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Gage and Elizabeth Brown. Mrs. Snow was raised in a six family tenement house on Bridgeport’s South End by her grandparents, the late John and Isa Miller Brown. Immigrants from Scotland, the Brown’s instilled in her a deep sense of pride for their home country and heritage. Betty was a 1963 graduate of Bassick High School and soon after began her career in banking as a teller at People’s Bank, Bridgeport. Moving to Shelton in 1970, she became a full time mother, lovingly raising her three young children. No sacrifice was too great; she strove to provide her children a better life in the suburbs - rooted in love and family. As her children grew, she returned to work as a customer service representative for the former Valley Bank and as a secretary for the dietary department of United Methodist Homes, Shelton. In 1990, fate would bring her back to People’s Bank, Bridgeport, where she served as a credit card customer service representative and supervisor for 14 years, until the time of her retirement in 2004. She enjoyed her years at People’s Bank and considered many of her coworkers friends. Betty adored all animals, enjoying many cats and dogs throughout the years - essentially considering them family. Most recently, she enjoyed the companionship of her cockapoo Toby, whom she affectionately referred to as her “handsome boy”. Betty always found great joy in watching the Animal Planet network. She was a voracious reader, a great cook, enjoyed traveling and casino trips; but found an entirely new identity as a grandmother. Her life and love revolved around her precious granddaughters and was fortunate to have shared two magical Disney vacations with “her girls”. In addition to her husband Donald of 26 years, she is survived by her devoted children, John Stanley (Milly) Zaleski of Shelton, Janet Elizabeth (Kenneth) Panuczak of Seymour and Robert Philip (Natalie) Zaleski of Trumbull; step-children, Diana Tuggle of GA and David Snow of NH; her beloved and cherished granddaughters, Marisa Elizabeth Panuczak of Seymour and Emily Elizabeth Zaleski of Shelton; “her boys” step-grandsons, Joseph Caruso of Shelton and Ryan Caruso of Seymour; step-grandchildren, Nicholas and Leana Tuggle of GA and Alexa Snow of NH; her former spouse Robert (Joyce) Zaleski of Shelton, as well as several dear nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, John Christiano at the young age of 14; a sister, Beverly Ann Christiano and her step-father, Philip Christiano. A Mass of Christian Burial, MEETING DIRECTLY AT CHURCH, will be celebrated on Monday, June 8, 2020 at 10:00 AM in the Church of the Assumption, 61 North Cliff Street, Ansonia. Interment will follow in the CT State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown.
