Over the course of several years, it was my blessing to serve as a deacon with Fr. Nicholas.
Father was a dedicated servant in the Lord's vineyard, giving himself to so many in a selfless manner.
During my time spent with Fr. Nicholas I came to appreciate his calm and gentle demeanor; never one to lose his temper, always one who made those who served with as a team.
Through Fathers association with the transit authority of the NYPD, shortly after that fateful day,I had the opportunity to travel with him to several locations impacted by the 9/11 attacks, including what remained of 'Tower 2.'
As one might imagine, such a visit was difficult for many reasons, yet I know the discussions he and I had about where we went, what we saw and what we remembered helped me immensely to see the good within the realm of such destruction and evil.
Matushka Anastasia and Father Nicholas' family will as always, continue in my prayers.
May God grant his exemplary servant eternal rest in Abraham's bosom and make his memory to be eternal!
