Obituary of Dorothy Vera Stevens
Dorothy Vera Stevens, age 92 of Seymour, beloved wife of the late Raymond A. Stevens, died peacefully on March 4, 2020, at the Shady Knoll Health Care Center, surrounded by her family. Born in Ansonia on December 15, 1927, she was the daughter of the late George and Suzi Chajduck Dudik. Mrs. Stevens was a resident of Ansonia, Sarasota, FL, and Shelton prior to her residence in Seymour and a lifelong member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Ansonia. She worked as a ribbon cutter for the Connecticut Narrow Fabrics Co. of Ansonia, for many years, until the time of her retirement in 1992. Mrs. Stevens enjoyed reading, puzzles, knitting & crocheting; but her passion was baking and preparing for festive family Christmas gatherings she hosted each year. She is survived by her devoted children, Mark (Doreen) Stevens of Oxford and Catherine (Wayne) Willets of Seymour; a sister, Eileen Rogucki of Shelton; 8 cherished grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband of 54 years, she was predeceased by a daughter, Lynn Ruotolo; sisters, Mary Pesta, Ann Sember and Margaret Kirlivsky; and brother, George Dudik. Funeral services will take place on Monday, March 9, 2020 at 10:30 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia. Interment will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby.
