Obituary of John J. Muratori
John Joseph Muratori, age 81, beloved husband of Patricia Muratori of Shelton, died peacefully on March 1, 2020 with his family by his side at Lord Chamberlain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Stratford. Born in Bridgeport on January 11, 1939, he was the son of the late Romuald Joseph “Dino” and Mary Cassidy Muratori. Mr. Muratori was raised in Bridgeport and was a graduate of Central High School. A proud U.S. Army National Guard Veteran, he was first employed by the former Connecticut National Bank and enjoyed a 40 year career in banking, working through every merger, until retiring from Fleet Bank in 2004. In his retirement, he continued to work for Bank of America and Graham Massey as a courier driver. Mr. Muratori was a Communicant and active member of St. Margaret Mary Church, where he served on many committees. He served as the Treasurer of the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Fairfield County as well as the Shelton Little League. He was an active father in all his son’s endeavors, especially as a scoutmaster of Pack 25, Boy Scouts of America, Shelton. Mr. Muratori enjoyed photography, gardening, and was a passionate collector of all things! In addition to his wife, Patricia of 53 years, he is survived by his devoted son, Keith (Brooke) Muratori of Shelton, of whom he was so proud; sister, Cassie (Louis) Mazzucco of Oxford; brother-in-law, Edward (Barbara) Sansone; nieces and nephews, Kari (Ronald) Yacawych, Gail (Edward) Hornkohl, Kim (Lenny) Calbo, Mike (Margie) Sansone, and Jeff (Eve) Sansone; as well as many great nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will take place on Thursday, March 5, 2020, at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. Margaret Mary Church, 50 Donovan Lane, Shelton. Interment will follow Mount Saint Peter Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Margaret Mary Church.
