Obituary of Helen Bowolick
Helen Bowolick, age 89 of Shelton, beloved wife of the late Michael J. Bowolick, died peacefully on February 16, 2020 at the Mid State Medical Center, Meriden, CT with her family by her side. Born in Shelton on August 3, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Conrad and Mary Tutko Chuckta. Mrs. Bowolick was a lifelong member of Three Saints Orthodox Church of Ansonia and a longtime resident of Shelton, prior to moving to Southington 8 years ago. Mrs. Bowolick was a 1948 graduate of Shelton High School and worked for Axton-Cross Co. of Shelton, for many years. She then worked as a clerk & secretary for the W.E. Bassett Co. for many years, until the time of her retirement. Helen had a bright smile and her laughter was contagious. She especially loved her son’s quick witted sense of humor and cherished spending time with him just talking, sharing memories and laughing about life. Her smile, laughter and fun nature will be missed most. She enjoyed knitting, reading mystery and romance novels, playing cards and watching old westerns and mystery shows in her down time. She loved to cook, bake and host gatherings in her Shelton home for family and close friends. Her door and kitchen were always open for anyone including her son’s team mates on the Shelton High School football team. The holidays were filled with love and laughter. She was very dedicated to her church community and enjoyed participating in services and events. Helen was a loving, supportive and proud wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She leaves behind many family members and loved ones who will miss her dearly and keep her memory in their hearts - including her devoted son, Joseph M. Bowolick and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Bowolick of Southington; a brother, Stephen Chuckta of Shelton; cherished grandchildren, Brandon Bowolick and Oni Stevens of FL, Jordan Bowolick of FL, Anthony DeMaio and Katie DeMaio of Shelton, and Joshua DeMaio and Lexi Selden of Middletown; a precious great-granddaughter, Blakely Bowolick of FL and Helen was elated to know her second great-grandchild was due this June; as well as many nieces, nephews and a very dear and lifelong friend, Rose Soncarato of Shelton. In addition to her husband of 38 years, she was predeceased by brothers, Michael, John and Samuel Chuckta and a special sister-in-law, Emily Chuckta. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 21, 2020 at 10:00 AM, meeting directly at Three Saints Orthodox Church, 26 Howard Avenue, Ansonia.
