Obituary of Helen Motel
Helen Motel, age 92 of Ansonia, beloved wife of the late Edward M. Motel, died peacefully, April 1, 2017 at the Hewitt Health and Rehab Center, Shelton. Born in Shelton on May 12, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Yanchik Bacha. Mrs. Motel was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church where she volunteered at bingo, belonged to the Mother’s Club and the CWV Ladies Auxiliary. An accomplished knitter and crochet master, she enjoyed teaching her craft to the students at Ansonia High School for many years. Mrs. Motel was an avid fan of the UCONN Huskies boys & girls basketball teams and enjoyed cheering them to victory for so many years. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Jean (Walter “Buddy” Kezel) Stevenson of Woodbridge, Nancy (Paul) Beres of Seymour, and Patricia (Steven) Marra of Ansonia; cherished grandchildren, Kimberly (Blake) MacKinney of Oxford and Joel Marra of Seymour; cherished great-granddaughter, Olivia MacKinney of Oxford; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Sharon Motel, a sister, Anna Kozak and brother, Michael Bacha. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 11:15 AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia. Interment will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia, on Wednesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, prior to Mass.
