Obituary of Michael Mikita

Mikita-Michael Mikita, age 93, of West Hartford, beloved husband of the late Mary Wolniak, died July 28, 2008 in the St. Marys Home, West Hartford. Born in Shelton on September 22, 1914, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Anna Mikita. Mr. Mikita was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and worked as a foreman for the Sikorsky Aircraft Co. for more than 25 years, until his retirement. He was a lifelong Valley resident and parishioner of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Ansonia. He is survived by his step-daughter, Melanie Galen and her husband, Dr. Malcolm Galen of Simsbury; a sister, Theresa Besechek of Bridgeport; brothers, Joseph, Andrew and William Mikita, all of Shelton; step-grandchildren, John Galen of LA, Mara Bjorneby of NY, NY and a step-great-granddaughter, Maya Bjorneby. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 1, 2008 at 11:00 AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Division St., Derby. Interment will be with Military Honors.
