Obituary of Mary Franzis

FRANZIS- Mary S. Franzis, age 91, of Seymour, beloved wife of the late Norman E. Franzis, died May 26, 2008, in the Birmingham Health Care Center, Derby. Born in Ansonia on September 14, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Tekla Pyrih Samodel. Mrs. Franzis was a Seymour resident for over 50 years and a lifelong member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Ansonia. She was a member of the League of Sacred Heart and the Catholic Daughters #802, both of St. Augustine Church, Seymour; and the Ansonia and Seymour Senior Centers. Mrs. Franzis is survived by her devoted children, John Franzis and his wife, Susan of Glastonbury, Patrick Franzis and his wife, Cynthia of Naugatuck, and Kathleen Jurzynski and her husband, Timothy of Seymour; brothers Nick Samodel and John Samodel and his wife Hazel, all of Norwalk; a sister, Anne Samodel of Seymour; four cherished grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by brothers, Harry and Terry Samodel and a sister, Sophie Samodel. Funeral services will take place on Friday, May 30, 2008 at 9:15 A.M from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia, at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call on Thursday, May 29, 2008, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM; Parastas Service will be held at 6:30 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Church.
