Obituary of Leonard J. Tomasheski
Leonard J. Tomasheski, age 80, beloved husband of Constance Smarz Tomasheski, of Oxford, died peacefully on April 29, 2015 in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side. Born in Derby, CT on November 25, 1934, he was the son of the late Chester and Valerie Dzwilewski Tomasheski. Mr. Tomasheski graduated from Pine High School in Ansonia, and was a proud U.S. Army Veteran of the cold war era, serving as a Sergeant in the 3rd Armor Division, Tank Operator. An Oxford resident for 54 years, he was the owner and operator of Seymour Woodcraft, a custom cabinet and specialty woodshop for 15 years; he then owned and operated the Health Food Pantry, a specialty health foods store in Naugatuck for 10 years; and prior to his retirement, he was a greens keeper for the Great Hill Country Club of Seymour. Mr. Tomasheski was a loyal & devout UCONN Girls Basketball and Red Sox fan; an avid golfer playing every day he could at either Great Hill C.C. (where he scored a hole in one) or Hop Brook C.C. Together with his wife, he enjoyed many special times on Myrtle Beach, SC and was an original founder and Committee Member of the Ansonia North Enders. In addition to his wife of 55 years, he is survived by his devoted children, Leonard J. Tomasheski, Jr. of Oxford and Joelle A. (Anthony) Duncan of TN; cherished grandchildren, Clint and Anielle C. Duncan of TN and Leonard J. Tomasheski III of Oxford; great grandchildren, Zachary Tomasheski and Adalynn Duncan; as well as several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Joan Madigosky. Funeral Services will take place on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:00 AM in the Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Rd., Seymour. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow in Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
