Obituary of Henry P. Petretti
PETRETTI- Henry P. Petretti, age 87 of Shelton, beloved husband of the late Barbara Steel Petretti, died peacefully on January 30, 2015 at Griffin Hospital. Born in Bridgeport on April 29, 1927, he was the son of the late Pellegrino “Peter” and Josephine Gatto Petretti. Mr. Petretti was a proud U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and worked for Sikorsky Aircraft for over 30 years as a lead man in the hydraulic test laboratory, until the time of his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. Together with his wife, he traveled to many islands, toured the U.S. and enjoyed the theater as well as trips to the casinos. Many will remember him for his warm personality and constant joke telling; truly a wonderful role model for all. He is survived by his devoted sister, M. Reletta Hellrigel of Shelton; many cherished nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, the light of his life for 51 years, he was predeceased by his brother, Sgt. Anthony Petretti, U.S. Army, who made the ultimate sacrifice for his Country in WWII. A Mass of Christian Burial, Meeting Directly At Church, will be Celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 in St. Margaret Mary Church, 50 Donovan Lane, Shelton. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. The Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia is in care of arrangements.
