Obituary of Rose Guider
GUIDER- Rose S. Guider, age 88, of Shelton, wife of the late Vincent Guider, died peacefully on January 27, 2014 at Griffin Hospital. Born in Ansonia on April 6, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Christina Kozak Sambol. Mrs. Guider was a lifelong resident of Shelton and member of Three Saints Orthodox Church, Ansonia. Mrs. Guider worked as a riveter for the Sikorsky Co. for 38 years, until her retirement in 1987. She would jokingly refer to herself as "Rosie the Riveter". Mrs. Guider was a world traveler, visiting places around the globe including Russia, Hawaii and the Caribbean. She enjoyed trips to the casinos and playing games of chance. Her passion was cooking, especially her specialties of home made bread and pierogies. To her, food was love and she tried to feed all who entered her home. She is survived by her son, Robert S. White of Shelton and Granddaughters, Tanya Marek and Shannon King, both of Shelton. She was predeceased by a daughter, Christine M. King and a sister, Elizabeth Sambol. Springtime interment will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia.
