Obituary of Julia Maximenko

Julia G. Maximenko, age 95, of Seymour, beloved wife of the late Paul Maximenko, died peacefully on August 7, 2013, at Griffin Hospital. Born in Ansonia on May 14, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna Timos Checkley. Mrs. Maximenko was a resident of Shady Knoll for six years, previously an Ansonia resident most of her life and communicant of the Church of the Assumption. She worked as an assembler for many years for the former Uniroyal Footwear Co., before retiring in 1962. Mrs. Maximenko was an avid crafter and enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She'll be long remembered for her friendly and outgoing personality, earning the nick name of "social director" among her many friends and acquaintances. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Judy Paradis and her husband, Donald of Waterbury and Debra Rizzio and her partner, Gisele Naber of Derby; cherished grandchildren, Jason Paradis and his wife Kelly of Wallingford, Joel Paradis of Cheshire, Cara Reynolds and her husband, Timothy of Derby and Katelyn Goff and her husband, Dylan of Ansonia; great-grandchildren, Ryan Rizzio and Hailey Reynolds of Derby and Jace Goff of Ansonia; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Maximenko was predeceased by sisters, Irene Nedbalski, Ann D'Aiuto and Mary Knuckles; and brothers, Charles, John and Joseph Checkley. Funeral services will take place on Monday, August 12, 2013 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in the Church of the Assumption, 61 N.Cliff Street, Ansonia. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Derby.
