Obituary of Julia Stelma

Julia M. Stelma, age 84, of Seymour, beloved wife of the late Andrew M. Stelma, died Wed., May 15, 2013, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family and friends. Born in Seymour on March 4, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Tekla Moskyowsky (Makowski) Guresh. Mrs. Stelma was a lifelong resident of Seymour, 1946 graduate of Seymour High School, and member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church. She worked as a secretary for the Kerite Co. for many years and then in the Seymour First Selectman's Office for Selectman, Paul Pawlak. Mrs. Stelma was a member of the Seymour Senior Center and enjoyed knitting, bingo, her flower gardens, pets, and children. She loved to travel; a good day trip or a long vacation. She was proud of visiting 41 states including Alaska and Hawaii; as well as memorable trips to Europe and the Caribbean. Mrs. Stelma is survived by her devoted children, John Stelma of Seymour with whom she resided and Andrea Gentile of FL; cherished grandchildren, Christina, Jonathan, Mallory and Caitlyn Martino, all of FL; a great-granddaughter, Issabella; nieces and nephews, Ronald (Sharon) D'Alexander of FL, Peggy Sember of Waterbury, Michael D'Alexander of Rocky Hill, Rozanne Sobieski of Uncasville, and Peter (Andrea) Stelma of Middletown; special "little" sister, Maxine Hayden of Wappinger Falls, NY; several great nieces and nephews; as well as loyal friends, Mary Finkle, Helen Bodnar, Kevin Flaherty and Jan Hann. In addition to her husband of 45 years, she was predeceased by brothers, Stephen, Peter, and John Guresh; sister, Ann D'Alexander; and niece, Linda Sorel. The family wishes to express their thanks and heartfelt appreciation to Dominique Porchea, Laura Melillo, Trudy Super, Willesha Riddick, CT Hospice, as well as many others for the care, comfort and many acts of kindness extended to Julia in her time of illness. Funeral Services will take place on Monday, May 20, 2013, at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:00 AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia. Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call on Sunday, May 19, 2013, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Memorial Contributions may be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Preservation Fund.
