Obituary of John Popowchak
Popowchak- John Popowchak, age 70, beloved husband of Gloria J. Visselli Popowchak of Seymour, died April 5, 2013 at Griffin Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born in Derby on September 7, 1942, he was the son of the late Stephen and Mary Hanas Popowchak. Mr. Popowchak was a graduate of Ansonia High School and was employed by several valley factories until the time of his retirement. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. In addition to his wife of 41 years, he is survived by a sister, Olga Svehlak of Oxford; a sister-in-law, Johanna Popowchak of Ansonia; several nieces and nephews; as well as several great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Amelia Wapner and brother, Paul Popowchak. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia. Interment with Full Military Honors will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call on Monday, April 8, 2013, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM; Panikhida at 6:30 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sts.
