Obituary of Stephanie Strumello

STRUMELLO – Stephanie Strumello, of Ansonia, beloved wife of the late Edward J. Strumello, died peacefully March 10, 2013 at Griffin Hospital with her family by her side. Born in Ansonia on January 31, 1926 she was the daughter of the late Lukach and Paraska Zidiak Baranowsky. Mrs. Strumello was a 1943 graduate of Ansonia High School and was a lifelong member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church where she was active in the Mothers' Club, Veterans' Auxiliary, St. Helen's Society, Ladies Club and was on the Board of Directors until 2008. Mrs. Strumello worked in the Admitting Office of Griffin Hospital for 19 years. Following her retirement, she worked in the office of Dr. Carlos Schweitzer for 20 years. She is survived by her devoted children, Edward L. Strumello and his wife Susan of Seymour, Stephen J. Strumello of Ansonia (with whom she resided), and Joanne Strumello Cairns of North Haven; cherished grandchildren, Jessica and Sean Strumello, both of Seymour, and Halle and Morgan Cairns, both of North Haven; sisters-in-law, Olga Baranowsky of Ansonia and Adele Strumello of Shelton; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband of 61 years, she was predeceased by her son-in-law, Martin D. Cairns; and brother, Samuel Baranowsky. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia. Springtime Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sts. Peter and Paul Preservation Fund.
