Obituary of Nicholas Zuraw

Nicholas Zuraw, 94, beloved husband of Anna Badarick Zuraw of Ansonia, died peacefully March 1, 2013. Born on May 24, 1918, he was the son of the late Lucas and Mary Horbal Zuraw. Mr. Zuraw was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII serving as a Radar Man on a Destroyer Escort, and a lifetime member of St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church. He worked as a printer in the composing room of the Evening Sentinel Newspaper for 31 years before his retirement. In retirement he remained active with Sts. Peter & Paul Church Catholic War Veterans Post 1677, the Liberty Hall and the Derby, Ansonia and Seymour Senior Citizens. In addition to his wife of 66 years, he is survived by his devoted daughter, Marissa A. (Thomas) Nemergut of VT; and sons, Nicholas Peter Zuraw of Ansonia, Denis J. Zuraw of Derby, Michael L. (Patricia) Zuraw of Seymour, and Daniel P. (Patricia) Zuraw of Shelton; cherished grandchildren, Christopher and Kimberly Zuraw and great-grandson, Jacob Zuraw. Mr. Zuraw is predeceased by brothers, Stephen and Samuel Zuraw; sisters, Dorothy Wolniak, Helen Pecylak and Mildred Dripchak; and a daughter-in-law, Shirley Berenda Zuraw. Funeral services will take place on Monday, March 4, 2013 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia, at 10:00 AM. Military Honors will be accorded following Mass. Springtime interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call on Sunday, March 3, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Panikhida at 6:30 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Preservation Fund of Sts. Peter and Paul Church.
