Obituary of Annamay Smith

SMITH – Annamay R. Vaccaro "Doll" Smith, age 85, of Derby, beloved wife of the late Arthur "Red" Smith, died February 19, 2013 peacefully in her home with her family and health aide, Gertrude Douglas, by her side. Born in Derby on August 21, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Laureto and Anna Vitello Vaccaro. Mrs. Smith was a long time resident of Derby, lifelong parishioner of St. Mary Church, and enjoyed antiquing and making jewelry. She was very active for many years in family owned business, Lorie's Restaurant of Derby; and together with her late husband owned and operated Vaccaro-Smith Funeral Home of Derby. She was also a retired registered nurse. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Tracey (Frank) DeLibero of Ansonia; two sons, Ronald Smith and Arthur (Colleen) Smith; two sisters, Christine Grinchis of Woodbridge and Rosemarie (Jack) Moore of Derby; and three cherished grandchildren, Ronald Ryan Smith, Arthur R. DeLibero and Frank F. DeLibero both of Ansonia; nieces, Maryann Tyma, Roxanne Smullen, Annamarie Serlin and nephew, Lorie Vaccaro. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Ronald Vaccaro. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. Mary Church, 212 Elizabeth St., Derby. Interment will be in Mount St. Peter Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call on Friday, February 22, 2013, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children Hospital, Memphis, TN.
