Obituary of Frank Szpak

SZPAK- Frank "Fetchy" Szpak, age 84 of Ansonia, beloved husband of the late Mary Fama Szpak, died peacefully January 29, 2013 at Griffin Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Orange on March 4, 1928, he was the son of the late Conrad and Annie Hanchak Szpak. Mr. Szpak was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, lifelong resident of Ansonia and member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church. He worked for over 30 years as a bottled gas delivery man for the Pioneer Auto Co. of Shelton, before his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking, art and sketching and trips to the casino. He is survived by his devoted children Deborah (Christopher) German of Ansonia and David (Shelley) Szpak of CA; cherished granddaughters, Kellie (Ricky) Santiago of Plainville and Sara German and her Fiancé, Matthew Aylward of Stratford; sister-in-law, Irene Szpak of Ansonia; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by sisters, Mary Shelton, Elizabeth "Pisa" Orzechowski and brothers, Andrew, John and Michael Szpak. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, where Military Honors will be accorded following Mass. Springtime interment will take place in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call on Friday, February 1, 2013, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Panikhida at 6:30 PM. Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.
