Obituary of Sophie Vasinko

VASINKO - Sophie Vasinko, age 86, beloved wife of the late Richard Vansinko, died peacefully January 9, 2013 in her Stratford home. Born on February 19, 1926 in Bangor, ME, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Pauline Georges Vardamis. Mrs. Vasinko was a teacher with the Stratford Board of Education for many years until the time of her retirement. She is survived by her sister Helen (Vilmars) Fimbers of Hamden, brother Alex (Francis) Vardamis of CA and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brothers, Harry and George Vardamis. A Mass of Christian Burial, MEETING DIRECTLY AT CHURCH, will be celebrated on Friday, January 11, 2013, at 10:00 AM in Holy Name of Jesus Church, 1950 Barnum Ave., Stratford. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. The Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia is in care of arrangements.
