Obituary of Donald McNamara Sr

McNAMARA, Sr. - Donald J. McNamara, Sr, age 76 of Bridgeport and Homestead, FL, beloved husband of the late Betty Moore McNamara, died peacefully on October 23, 2012, in his home surrounded by his family. Born in Poughkeepsie, NY on May 25, 1936, he was the son of the late Patrick and Mary (Amen) McNamara. Mr. McNamara was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran and following his discharge from active duty, served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve for many years. He worked as a plumber for the Stamford School System over 30 years until the time of his retirement. A longtime resident of Norwalk, Mr. McNamara retired to Homestead, FL in 1997 where he was a member of the K of C and the Moose Lodge. He is survived by his sons, Donald J. McNamara, Jr. of Norwalk, Patrick A. McNamara and his wife Janice of Shelton, Michael S. McNamara and his wife Denise of Bridgeport, and daughter, Margaret E. Berg of Monroe; 13 cherished grandchildren and a great-grandson. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a son, Anthony P. McNamara. In accordance with his wishes, burial at sea will be conducted by the U.S. Navy. The Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia is in care of arrangements.
