Obituary of John Szpak
<b><font color="#000000">SZPAK</font></b>
<font color="#000000">- John Szpak, age 90, beloved husband of Irene Baran Szpak of Ansonia, died October 14, 2012 at Griffin Hospital, Derby. Born in Orange on October 1, 1922, he was the son of the late Conrad and Annie Honczak Szpak. Mr. Szpak was a lifelong Ansonia resident and U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He was a devoted lifelong member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church where he served as Choir Director for many years and member of the Holy Name Society. His passion in life was his family and his church. He worked as a Supervisor of Cost Inventory for the Farrel Corp for over 40 years before retiring in 1984. Mr. Szpak then worked for Big Y Supermarkets as a Demo man for 17 years, retiring in 2001. In addition to his wife of 58 years, he is survived by his devoted son, Gregory J. Szpak of Ansonia, a brother, Frank Szpak of Derby and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Andrew and Michael Szpak and sisters, Mary Shelton and Elizabeth "Pisa" Orzechowski. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia. Interment with Military Honors will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, (TODAY) from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Panikhida will be held at 6:30PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Church.
