Obituary of Phyllis Walsh

WALSH- Phyllis E. Walsh, age 89 of Trumbull, beloved wife of the late William G. Walsh, died July 3, 2010 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada on January 13, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Millicent Nason Thomas. Mrs. Walsh was a Registered Nurse, and served in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps in England during WWII. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1946 and was proud to become a naturalized citizen on December 8, 1949. She was employed as a Registered Nurse by St. Vincent's Medical Center for 22 years, until her retirement in 1986. A voracious reader and member of the St. Vincent's Retirees Association, Mrs. Walsh was longtime resident of Fairfield before moving to Trumbull six years ago. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Sandra Altman and her husband, Peter of TN, Diane Keogh of West Haven, and Carlene Czesnowski and her husband John of CT; a brother, Blaine Thomas of Canada; cherished grandchildren, Adam and Amy Czesnowski, and Scott and Kristie Altman. Mrs., Walsh was predeceased by a beloved grandson, Kevin P. Czesnowski, as well as four brothers. A private graveside service was held in Mount St. Peter Cemetery, Derby.
