Obituary of S. Roy Perler

PERLER- S. Roy Perler, age 82, beloved husband of Anne Neville Perler of Huntington, died December 5, 2008 in Yale-New Haven Hospital. Born in New York City on March 25, 1926, he was the son of the late Joseph and Goldie Blacker Perler. Mr. Perler served his country as a Naval Aviator during WWII and graduated from Yale University in 1947 with a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was the President and CEO of Industrial Truck Sales of North Haven, a company he purchased over 35 years ago. Mr. Perler was a passionate seaman, navigating the Bermuda Race many times as well as sailing the East Coast and the Bahamas. He was a former member of the Milford Yacht Club. Mr. Perler was an avid antique car enthusiast owning many American and European models. In addition to his wife of 23 years, he is survived by sons, Robert Perler of Greenwich, Mark Perler of Stamford, and Eric Perler and his wife, Jeanine of Woodbridge; grandsons, Craig, Evan, Justin, Wesley and Kirby Perler. He is also survived by a niece and a nephew; a great-niece and great-nephew; 4 step-children, 5 step-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren. Mr. Perler was predeceased by a sister, Rhoda. The family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to the all the physicians, nursing staff, and chaplain of the Yale-New Haven Surgical ICU for their outstanding care.
