Obituary of Amelia Wapner
WAPNER-Amelia Wapner, age 73, of Ansonia, beloved wife of the late Peter Wapner, died suddenly at home on December 20, 2011. Born in Derby on February 7, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Hannas Popowchak. Mrs. Wapner was a lifelong Ansonia resident, 1955 graduate of Ansonia High School and lifelong member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church. Mrs. Wapner was currently employed with the Knights of Columbus Insurance Co. of New Haven and was formerly employed by the Farrel Co. for many years. She is survived by her devoted son, Joseph Wapner of Ansonia; a brother, John Popowchak and his wife Gloria of Seymour; sisters, Olga Svehlak of Oxford and Joan Popowchak of Ansonia. She was predeceased by a brother, Paul Popowchak. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, December 24, 2011 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia. Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call on Friday, December 23, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Parastas at 6:30 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Preservation Fund.
